Gardening project at CF61 Update

Our volunteers from our gardening project at CF61 in Llantwit Major have started work on the planters outside the staff entrance to the GVS offices at Illtud House. We have wooden planters and seating so our team and staff from other offices in the building can enjoy an outside space. We have some stone planters that were donated that have been planted with mint, camomile and other herbs which once established can be used to make herbal teas. The volunteers are also going to add some different salad leaves that we can add to our lunches.

The willow fencing and arches around the children’s area have started to grow and look amazing and will provide a barrier to the parking areas.

With the help of Valeplus and the students from Atlantic College we have lots of veg and salad stuff planted including broad beans, garlic, potatoes, onions, shallots and beetroot all of which will be added to Foodshare.

The staff are contributing by collected their food waste which is going into the compost bins.

If you would like to help with our gardening project, come along on Tuesday afternoons from 1.30pm. Contact Cath Haines, Volunteer Co-ordinator for more information at cath@gvs.wales
